Crock Pot Roast

Made with Wantsumeaux Brown Gravy

  • 1 package Wantsumeaux Brown Gravy mix
  • 2-3 lb roast (rump or chuck)
  • 1 ½ cups hot tap water
  • 1 large yellow onion, diced
  • 1 rib celery, diced
  • 3-4 carrots, disked
  • 1 small bell pepper, diced4 medium russet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 garlic cloves, minces
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • WG Seasoning, optional

In bowl, add Wantsumeaux Brown Gravy mix and 1 ½ cups hot tap water, whisking until thoroughly incorporated. Add minced garlic and stir.

Season roast with salt and pepper, or WG Seasoning. Place roast in crockpot, adding onion, bell pepper, celery, carrots and potatoes on top. Season with a little more salt and pepper, or WG Seasoning and loosely toss. Pour gravy mixture over meat and vegetables. Set crockpot on low for 5 hours for a 2 pound roast and 6 hours for a 3 pound roast. When done, remove meat and vegetables and briskly whisk gravy to incorporate juice. ENJOY!

*Since the roast will make more juice while cooking, if you want a thicker gravy, cut back on the water by ¼ to ½ cup.
*To add additional depth of flavor, you can brown your roast prior to adding it to the crockpot. Make sure you brown in oil and all sides are seared.

Yields: 6-8 servings
